Once again, you need to read about js and learn how js works before you can actually code in js - I'm not too sure how your application structure looks like, so there's no way for me to "guess" where this variable will be really located.

Case you're on the same class, you could:

var sText = this.string;

var oTextView = new sap.ui.commons.TextView({ text : sText });

Above all I really think you need to learn the basics of javascript before you attempt to really create an application - Going on this way (without a clear knowledge of what you're doing) you will end up with a "frankenstein".
